Cannot connect to Exchange Webservices

Overview

You receive the error "Cannot connect to Exchange Webservices" while testing this from the Synchronizer Admin - Technical settings

In the Synchronizer logfile you see this warning:

T00004540 WARNING SynchronizerManager: Error initializing agents:Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.Data.ServiceRequestException: The request failed. The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Fix

In this specific case TLS 1.2 was disabled on the app server. After enabling this and rebooting the server it is working again.
